Matt Reynolds CFA®, MFA-P™
Managing Director, Western Canada & Referral Network
If there is one element of Newport’s philosophy that resonates with Matt, it is that exceptional performance is the by-product of consistency, resilience, and innovation, regardless of market conditions.
Prior to joining Newport in 2002, Matt worked as an analyst with boutique firms in Toronto and Boston in both the public and private equity sectors, with a focus on energy infrastructure technology and venture-backed entities. As the Managing Director, Corporate Finance, Matt was a core member of Newport’s investment banking and corporate advisory team. In this capacity, Matt assisted in the development of more than $1 billion of corporate mandates for clients, including some of Canada’s largest family-owned businesses.
In 2012, Matt co-founded Newport’s referral network and has overseen its growth to more than $1.9 billion assets under management, serving 3,000+ households across the country. Hailing from Vermilion, Alberta, Matt has returned to his Western roots and relocated to Kelowna, British Columbia in 2021. In his expanded role of Managing Director, Western Canada & Referral Network, Matt is jointly responsible for expanding and enhancing the firm’s Western Canadian presence, while building Newport’s referring partners’ base.
Outside of Newport, Matt is a proud husband and father of five kids. He acted as Vice Chair of the Private Capital Markets Association of Canada for five years; attained the Master Financial Analyst – Philanthropy designation; and raced in several Ironman triathlons. In his rare spare time, he can be found happily on a piano bench or at the Kelowna Driving Range down the street. He graduated with a commerce degree from McGill University.
Matt’s optimism and positivity are genuinely infectious, and he takes great satisfaction in continuously improving the advisor and client experience with new, well-executed ideas.
