Jansen Shrubb MBA, CIM®
Portfolio Manager
As a quarterback for the Queen’s Golden Gaels and the Toronto Varsity Blues during his university years, Jansen learned the value of teamwork, preparation and discipline.
After graduation, working with Scotia Capital as a consultant to large institutional investors on alternative investment strategies, he observed that the most effective investment teams also applied preparation and discipline.
“My institutional clients started with the end in mind. They would, first, identify their long-term obligations to plan holders and then work backwards to build a portfolio to meet those objectives including the use of alternative assets ,” he says. “I saw the need to bring this level of discipline and diversification to individual investors and I saw it being offered by Newport.”
Jansen joined Newport Private Wealth in 2014 and today helps clients manage wealth in accordance with their long-term individual objectives.
Jansen also contributes his alternative asset experience to Newport’s Asset Mix Committee, a sub-committee of Newport’s Investment Committee, that ensures the firm stays on the cutting edge of asset mix methodology.
Jansen holds a Masters of Business Administration from The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto as well as a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from Queen’s University.
