Hockey was Scott’s passion growing up, yet he admits that the sport didn’t come easy. “I was never the fastest or the most skilled, so I relied heavily on my relentless drive and competitive nature to play at the highest level I possibly could,” he says.

That commitment led to a hockey scholarship at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell where he captained the varsity hockey team. Scott graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Manning School of Business before going on to play professional hockey for six years in North America and Europe.

Following his hockey career, Scott’s natural curiosity and interest in business led him to finance. He is a CFA® charterholder and spent five years as an equity research analyst with Sandstone Asset Management in Calgary before joining Newport.

Scott was drawn to Newport by the profound camaraderie and shared commitment that define successful teams. Born and raised in a small community east of Ottawa, Scott now makes his home in Calgary, Alberta with his wife and young daughter. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors and staying active.
